Bill is off frolicking on the beaches of Cape Cod, so we brought in author, Daily Show Resident Expert, and anthropomorphic PC John Hodgman, who is very very upset on behalf of his friend, cartoonist David Rees. It seems David is being treated very shabbily by some juice magnates. Also, Jaz and David compete for thrilling prizes on “John Hodgman’s Great Weather Quiz.”(tm)

TWO remote broadcasts in as many days! WOO!

First, we kick off Northampton’s Sidewalk Sales with a broadcast from Main Street. We talk to “Our Own” Kelsey Flynn (TM) and Tom McCabe of Paintbox Theatre about their upcoming productions, and how Kelsey is SUCH a DIVA! Then we chat with Lucinda Kidder, Anna Young, and Bob Williams of Hampshire Shakespeare about their upcoming production, and gender roles, and frat boys. Finally, street pianist Ed Rosser tells us where he got the idea to wheel a piano out on the streets of downtown Northampton, and then he plays a little something for us.

Then, SURPRISE! It’s not the last Friday of the month, but it IS the last Friday Bill will BE here this month, so we’re off to Serio’s. We talk to Gary, and Phil Korman of CISA, about all the local goodies available. Then Coyote Boy Luke Bittel is our inside guy in the film world. He talks about summer blockbusters, and why Edge of Darkness, which was filmed here in Northampton, isn’t going to be one. Finally, Jose Ayerve is playing a benefit for LBGT youth tonight at the Rendezvous, and he gives us a little taste.

Here’s Jose at the Elevens last year. Imagine flourescent lighting and produce behind him, and a different song, and it’ll be just like the Serio’s gig.

July 20th - Jaz is off, so Chris is driving the bus - or perhaps the trolley, to Fussytown. Bill talks to his LA correspondent Tommy Saunders about how to get California out of its financial morass. And Cate Damon and Lisa Abend talk about New Century Theatre’s latest offering.

July 21st - Could it be that Bill has finally become, dare we say, mature? Nah… Plus, yay for Jimmy Carter! We chat with local reporter and ranconteur Bob Flaherty about beach shoes, life imitating sitcoms, and when torture MIGHT be appropriate.

July 22nd - Bill is not a fan of Kate Bush. Or humidity. Joel Russell and Dan Berrian come in to talk about the next event for the Northampton Design Forum. And Greg Saulmon of Local Buzz hips us to some stories he’s been following.

And just in case you missed some of today’s pop culture references…

July 16 - We talk to Rod Hart and Kevin Maroney from the Ja’Duke production of Curtains, which is having a special performance at The Academy of Music here in Northampton.

July 17 - Oh, there’s big talent coming to the Valley. Well, I’m being half sarcastic. The half I’m NOT sarcastic about is legendary musician and new Valley resident Chris Smither, who is learning to drop the “H” in Amherst.

Poor color-coded terrorist chart, heading for the dustbin. Bill and Jaz have some suggestions for how to recycle it for everyday, practical purposes. We also have some ideas about what to replace it with. What are yours? Plus, people have some crazy notions about Israeli intelligence and the proposed Massachusetts transgender rights bill.

We chat with Jaz’s personal trainer Erin McDonald about why Jaz is so much more awesome than Bill. And how you can be more awesome than Bill, too.

Happy Bastille Day!

I’m working on Bill’s waif costume.

Apparently swearing is good for you. @#&%!!!!

Bill’s LA friend Tommy Saunders has some issues with sibling rivarly he tries to work out with us. We also talk to Debbie Windoloski and Steve Wilda, about an upcoming Garden (and Art!) tour, part of the Hadley 350 celebration.

And, seriously…this was kind of what our walk to the station looked like this morning…

Just replace the crows with professional-looking types with nametags. Maybe like this, but more suits and fewer jumpsuits (warning, bad word in this one):

Anyway, here’s what you came for, right?

Hey! Bill’s back from Montana! Just in time for the weekend! Bill regales us with tales of rodeos and other strange traditions from the heartland. Plus we review some of the excitement that happened in his absense. Then we talked to Sabrina Hamilton, director of theKo Festival, about what’s funny, and what’s not funny.
